At ISU, we offer excellent curricula to help you learn how to analyze and design thermo, mechanical and automation systems ranging from nanotechnologies as small as a few thousandths of human hair to actual power systems as large as a nuclear power plant. We have a young and dynamic faculty which carries out research to make these systems smart and autonomic, energy-efficient and powerful, light and strong, and environmentally sustainable. We offer specializations in design and mechanics, dynamics and control, materials, and thermal fluid sciences, and we have strong ties with industry and the profession. We provide opportunities for our undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience with faculty research and for our graduate students to perform cutting-edge research.
